Yoné Noguchi (1875-1947) was a poet and professor of English at Keio University in Tokyo. Noguchi traveled to the United States in 1893, where he lived and worked in San Francisco and New York before retuning to Japan in 1904. He developed a reputation while in the United States as an imagist poet and published his first book of poetry, Seen and unseen or, monologues of a homeless snail (1897), while living in San Francisco.
